REALTOR® of Distinction: Stephanie Wilson
Stephanie Wilson of AgentOwned Realty Company in Mount Pleasant, specializes in matching clients not only with the right home, but also with the right neighborhood. It is this nuance that makes working with Stephanie so easy. “Finding a home in the right location is just as important as finding a home with all the amenities a client needs,” Stephanie explains. She asks the right questions to ascertain the important factors that pinpoint where a home buyer should look for his or her future home. It is important to determine the qualities a home buyer is seeking in a house before the search begins. “Every client is looking for specific features, such as a downstairs master bedroom, a large kitchen or a fenced in back yard for the family dog,” says Stephanie. “Every client has needs and priorities unique to them, and it’s my job to discover what those needs are before we look at a single house.” Creating realistic expectations is vitally important before beginning a house search. Stephanie works with her clients to prequalify them with a lender so they are assured of house hunting in the right price range. This step eliminates the potential disappointment that would inevitably arise when clients realized they had made an emotional commitment to a house they can’t afford. It also avoids the unpleasant surprise of discovering only after a contract is signed that the home buyer doesn’t qualify to buy the house. All of these efforts are aimed toward one goal: matching clients to the perfect house to meet their needs, rendering the whole process not only stress-free but actually enjoyable. Stephanie has noticed lately that relocations are making up an increasing percentage of Charleston home sales. “Relocations now make up probably more than 15 percent of my real estate closings,” Stephanie says. Although many of her clients
have moved to South Carolina from
New York and New Jersey, she’s seeing
activity from all over the country.
“I’ve had clients from West
Virginia and as far away as Wyoming.
I am also seeing people looking to
purchase a second home in our area,”
she says.
An advantage Stephanie enjoys when she shows houses to a local client or a newcomer is her local touch. Stephanie, who was born and raised in the Lowcountry, knows where everything is located, but she also knows first-hand the history of the growth of the Charleston area. “I know the area, and I know when everything was built,” she explains. Such local knowledge – added to a strong work ethic and an unwavering attentiveness to her clients’ needs – gives Stephanie a rare level of expertise in the Charleston-area real estate market. She attributes her office Rookie Realtor of the Year honors in 2003 to these strengths. Drawing on her insider’s knowledge of the area, Stephanie is able to assist home buyers throughout the entire area, from Summerville to Mount Pleasant and from Seabrook to Wild Dunes. Stephanie also has a team of five agents to assist in helping with every buyer’s needs. Besides being a Realtor of Distinction, Stephanie was named to the Director’s Circle in 2004, then to the President's Circle in 2005. She is a member of both the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors and the Charleston Trident Multiple Listing Service. She has earned the status of accredited buyer representative, and, never one to rest on past achievement, she is currently earning her GRI.
